Turnover bitches! What to do with leftover bread!

So here in Holland we have this tradition where we basically sit around a big grillplate with a lot of small, also know as 'gourmetten'. It's actually just cookingfor retards. But it's cozy (gezellig) and you can get really drunk with waiting for your food because these stupid pans barely reach a cooking temperature.
Anyway, I always have baguettes and other bread as leftover. It's a pity to throw away, so what do I make from it?
Turnover bitches! also known as 'wentelteefjes' in Dutch. You're welcome!
It is like french toast, you dip the bread in an egg/milk/cinnamon mixture and then you fry it in a pan! Perfect as hangover breakfast from all the wine you drank the evening before because your chicken filet took 2 hours to get done and you're still not sure if all the salmonella was cooked out.
Anyway, the recipe!

Dip both sides of the pieces of bread in the egg mixture. Don't leave them too long or they'll become too soggy

Add the pieces of bread and fry!

Cut your leftover bread in slices so the pieces are easier to bake.

Mix 1 egg, half a cup of (soy)milk, a big dash of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar in a deep plate (or in my case, an ikea tupperware box)

Melt some butter (a lot of butter is even better, but hey, my ass doesn't need to get bigger) in a pan.

Fry them until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
Serve with some extra cinnamon and sugar. Or maple syrup. Or icing sugar. Or just with anything sweet that has a lot of sugar in it.

Components of life

So I am planning on blogging from now on, it happens a bit too often now that I have ideas for posts and I don't do anything with it. Since I just finished my bachelor thesis (and got a 8 out of 10, hell yeah, my brain apparently still works) I have more than enough time to write and be actually happy to sit behind my dear laptop.
My daily life might be a bit different than other girls/women of my age. I also never  know if I should call myself a girl or a woman, I'm 22 years old at the moment, but neither of them seem to fit.
Anyway, these are the main components of my life, so you know what to expect!

Circus
(did I mention already I'm currently doing a bachelor in circus arts? Yes, basically I play in a playground for four years doing dangerous things and stretching my limbs further than they should.

Cats
I have two of them, and I'm expected to be an international circus artist, good job in planning ahead Sanne... But I love them and they both are weird and cuddly, and most of all, extremely arrogant... Basically I'm just your standard crazy cat lady

Food
I have a love/hate relationship with food. I absolutely love indulging in blocks of butter and lumps of sugar, but since my study involved hanging in the air carrying my own weight, I need to make some compromises...

Boyfriends
Okay, now it looks like I have several, but for now I only stick to one! I'm a lucky girl to be surrounded by strong, muscled guys, and now I even found one that is extremely sweet and caring on top of having quite a delicious body!

Being creative and stuff
So I'm the worst in finishing projects, I have to admit that. Yes, I have a closet full of unfinished crafting/DIY/costume projects, and they all have a succes rate of 0.1%, but I have many ideas and maybe I will even finish some more of them

Hey, here is a picture of me doing things

So basically my posts you can divide in these categories. And actually I'm not going to write about my boyfriend, but yeah I just wanted to tell about him, maybe some pictures of his muscles, who knows...

Love,
Sanne

Congratulations! You´re injured!

It´s that time again.

As you work quite a lot (as in all the time) with (and against) your body as a circus artists, injuries are kind of part of the job as well. Some of them are more severe than others, but they suck, no matter what.
Luckily I didn't have so many injuries yet, and my body seemed to be getting really okay with the amount of physical work I did for my circus school.
Until some weeks ago. Halfway summer holidays I woke up with a 'tight' back. Weird thing that I could still backbend and do contortion (you know, like circus people that look like they're made from rubber? ) but simply picking something up from the floor became impossible. Imagine me holding on to my knees or a table like a 80-year old woman with severe artrosis? Like that.
Good times I'm having here.
And today I arrived at the point where I couldn't even stand up from the crashmat after a trick I did.
That's not so good.
So there it goes, I'm having a break for 2.5 weeks now, no physical activity with my back at all.
But also some more free time to work on my theoretical graduation project (Which is due the 1st of December) and post some more blogposts!

And you know, it sucks, definitely with the knowledge that it's possible I have a beginning hernia as a 22-year old woman, but there are so many good and lovely things in my life, that I know it's going to be fine, and that it's just another step towards knowing my body even better, for the rest of my life!

Next to resting completely and doing a lot of weird core exercises (lift your leg, but without your leg muscles, with a relaxed ass muscle, but tensed... See the logic?) I'm going to try to make my lifestyle as healthy and anti- inflammatory as possible, So behold of the anti inflammatory recipes that are coming!

My Summer

Wiehoo, it's summer!
It should be warm and nice weather, but most of the time here in Holland, it's obviously not.
Also as a relatively normal student, I should go on a holidays. But I don't. I'm kind of broken from the past schoolyear. Try training 5 hours a day  5 days a week, trying to satisfy a mentally unstable (now ex-)boyfriend, and partying until far after dawn for a year. It's not that good for you.
And since I hear I got a well paid circus job that requires me to wake up at 5 am and ends at 1pm for 5 days in 2 weeks time, I'm not gonna go anywhere where I can't sleep in my own bed.
I'll mainly stay in my city, trying to catch upwith the sleep that I missed, and also to prepare my house for moving out...

I still set some goals though:

-Start with my final bachelor paper...

-Drink wine

-Workout 5 days a week

-Make a pillow cover from awesome spiderman fabric I got

-Get a place to live after the 1st of September

-Cuddle with my cats

-Not getting back together with my ex boyfriend

-Drink some more wine

-Smoke some cigarette with thay wine on my rooftop while the sun goes down

-Sleeping

So far so good...

Hey! I'm Weird Duck!

Hello!

So my first blogpost here, I guess about who I am!

I'm a girl or a woman, I'm in this age that it feels weird to call myself a woman, but I also feel too old to say I'm a girl. Anyway, a female in the beginning of her twenties. I'm also a European, from Holland to be exact. At the moment I'm studying for my bachelor. Kind of a weird bachelor though, because I somehow always do something else then everyone else does.
To be more clear about that; I like to hang in things, as in a trapeze. Or a rope. Or aerial silks. Or my favourite, the aerial hoop. That's right, I do circus. (After spending 6 years in hell; Grammar school, I decided to do circus instead of studying medicine or law...)

It's basically a metal hula hoop with a rope on it. And then I do tricks in it and stuff.
In 1 year I hope to call and feel myself as a professional circus artist. So I hope to take you with me on this adventure!

I also like food.
Like many people.
Some days I'm extremely healthy raw/vegan/glutenfree/sugarfree and all that shit, and some weeks I absolutely only crave grilled cheese sandwiches with ketchup (Heinz is still the best!) and bake a full fat full sugar overloaded cake daily.
Long live training 5 hours a day so I don't get fat.
Because I will if I stop training.

One of my characteristics also consists out of being a crazy cat lady, definitely since my recent break-up (there goes a bottle of wine again!) Some weeks I'm an extreme domestic housewife and I go all crazy with baking my own bread and manage to keep my laundry basket empty, and some weeks i'm barely home (my housemates are also there to take care of the cats, don't worry!) and sleeping only at friends places and travel around. (Just came back from Denmark by the way.)

I guess for now this is it, I'm looking forward to write down and share (some of) my brainfarts and brainpuke, because I have a lot of them.
